For His Fans

Ryan Reynolds

Yes, folks, I know this is huge, but RR fans like ‘em like that.  If you can’t see it all, save it down.  Ryan was at the Santa Barbara Film Festival yesterday.  This photo was posted on justjared.com.

New Ryan Reynolds Movie on the Way

Ryan Reynolds

Since I’m extremely busy with all the Christmas guests this year, I thought I would look up some movies that are coming up and give you a little synopsis to tide you over.  These come from Firstshowing.net.  First up:

Adventureland

Release Date: 2008
Director:
Greg Mottola (Superbad)
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Ryan Reynolds, Kristen Stewart, Martin Starr
Synopsis: A comedy set in the summer of 1987 and centered around a recent college grad (Eisenberg) who takes a nowhere job at his local amusement park, only to find it’s the perfect course to get him prepared for the real world.
The Hype: The director of Superbad, the late-summer sleeper hit comedy of 2007, is back again with a film he wrote that has a plot that sounds like it could rival Knocked Up or Superbad.

It’s Not All About the Pecs

Ryan Reynolds

Just look into that face and you can tell before he even opens his mouth that he’s truly a smart-ass.  I will watch him in absolutely anything.  Hell, I watched “Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place” faithfully just to hear what Berg (Ryan Reynolds) would say and the sarcastic way he would say it.  He’s been getting a lot of press lately for who he may or may not be dating and because he looks great shirtless, but that’s truly not why I’m glued to the screen.  Once again, I’m taken with a guy because of his “turn of phrase”, sarcasm, and general wit.  See guys?  It’s true.  It’s really your sense of humor and not your looks that count with women.  Ryan has two new films in production (one a comedy, one a drama) and I know exactly which one is on my must-see list.  O.K. so I don’t normally watch drama but he’s starring so I’ll make an exception.  He can also be seen in “Smokin’ Aces”.  Actually, I’m crossing my fingers for a sitcom, because I can’t resist the witty guys.

But, I’m an equal opportunity blogger and for some people, it is all about the pecs.  So, for you….don’t say I never gave you anything.

Fearless Vampire Killer Evolution

As with vampires, the vampire hunters have also evolved.  They once looked like Peter Cushing here.

Or, they looked more like Jack MacGowran here:

But, the times they are a changin’.  Now look who are the Fearless Vampire Killers.

Hugh Jackman in “Van Helsing”

Kate Beckinsale in “Van Helsing”

David Wenham in “Van Helsing” (yes, he’s the meek friar, but he’s still hot)

Jessica Biel in “Blade: Trinity”

Ryan Reynolds in “Blade: Trinity”

Sarah Michelle Gellar in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (tv)

Now in the interest of consistency, let me just say that I am not making a commentary on the hotness of the stars who play the Vampire Killers nor of the Vampires.  I am, however, making a commentary on the changing attitudes when it comes to the way they are portrayed.  Back in the day, Vampires (and their hunters) were not particularly attractive.  Bram Stoker’s Dracula was written as a very seductive character and this is the model for most movie vampires so they should be portrayed as attractive.  As for the Hunters, well, they should probably look a lot like Peter Cushing or Jack MacGowran if we’re being faithful to the originals.
