Public Enemies

Johnny Depp on the set

I’ve talked about this film before (and it sounds wonderful).  Also starring are Christian Bale, David Wenham, Stephen Dorff, Channing Tatum, and Marion Cotillard.  According to imdb the film is described:

The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.

Johnny Steps Up To the Plate

Johnny Depp

Heath Ledger

It’s sad that Heath Ledger won’t finish “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” but it’s nice of Johnny Depp to step up and finish the project.  It’s nice because Terry Gilliam plans on keeping scenes with Heath Ledger in the movie.

From Hollyscoop.com:
Johnny Depp will replace Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the latest project Heath had been working on. Director Terry Gilliman hand picked Johnny for the role.

But this doesn’t mean we won’t see Heath at all. The studio is saying there’s a part of the movie in which Heath’s character falls through a magic mirror, and they may have Johnny become the new appearance of the changed character.

Johnny Depp is Generous

Johnny Depp

Last night Mr. Depp donated  £1 million (some sites are reporting £2 million) to Great Ormond Street Hospital (who treated and saved his daughter).  In November he dressed up as Capt. Jack Sparrow and read stories to the kids in the hospital.  Yet one more reason to love Johnny Depp.  (Like we needed any more.)

Sounds Good to Me

I can’t think of a better combination than Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.  I can’t think of a better period piece than 30s Gangster….read on…

Christian Bale

Wow, Johnny Depp at the London premiere of “Sweeney Todd” last night.  Again…wow.

Variety reports that Johnny Depp and Christian Bale will play opposite each other in “Public Enemies”.  In the film set in the 30s, the Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillilnger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.  I have got to see that.

Oh How I Hope This Is True

Johnny Depp

It is rumored that Johnny Depp will be in both Sin City 2 and Sin City 3.  I loved Sin City and he wasn’t even in that.  I think the cinematography was fantastic in that movie.  Of course, as far as I’m concerned Robert Rodriguez has the midas touch when it comes to film.  Sin City 2 is also rumored to have Rachel Weisz and Antonio Banderas.  Apparently some of my faves from Sin City have already been signed including Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Danny Trejo, and more more more.  Go here for the listing.

Celebrity Photographer: Armando Gallo

He’s most recognized for his work with “Genesis” and Peter Gabriel.  There’s something so pensive in Mr. Gallo’s work.  Even when his subjects are smiling, there seems to be something thoughtful behind the smile.  I love that quality in his photos.

His website is not finished yet but when it is, it will be found here.

Here are some samples of his work:

Robert Deniro

Denzel Washington

Shia Labeouf

Johnny Depp

Don Cheadle

Hayden Panettiere

Matt Damon

Tobey Maguire

John Travolta

Lindsay Lohan

Don’t get me wrong, he does a lot of female celeb portraits, but the majority of them were too huge for this blog.  Sorry guys.  Do take the time to look them up, because he really does great work.

Celebrity Photographer: Matthew Rolston

I love his work in Rolling Stone so thought I might look him up to see what else he’s done.  I’ll let wikipedia do the talking.

From Wikipedia:  Over the years, Rolston’s still photography work for Harper’s Bazaar, Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine and Rolling Stone (among many others) has highlighted his visual panache and control of detail.  Rolston’s photographs have been exhibited at prestigious galleries. Locations include locations across the United States, Europe, Japan, and at museums, including The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. In addition, a collection of his photographs, “Big Pictures”, was published in 1991 by Bullfinch Press. Soon, Rolston expanded his savvy for classic composition and style by working as a director of music videos for artists including TLC, En Vogue, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Poe, Dido, Garbage, Sugababes, Jody Watley, Hilary Duff and Beyoncé Knowles.

I couldn’t put it better myself.  For a very nice website with lots of photos, go to his homepage:

Charlize Theron

Keira Knightley

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Zac Efron

Zac Efron’s now famous Rolling Stone Cover (You can actually buy this in poster size at art.com…amazing work)

Britney Spears

And again

Christina Aguilera

Jonny Depp (another now famous photo)

Angelina Jolie

I think if I were trying to make it in Hollywood, I would have one of these amazing photographers take my pics because they really add an artistic eye and make everyone look ethereal.

Let’s Talk About John Taylor

John Taylor

While I don’t usually comment on personal appearance much (except to say that someone looked great for a role or to defend someone who keeps getting trashed in the blogs for looking different than cookie-cutter Hollywood) I wanted to look up a few heart-throbs just to see what they are like today.  Now most of us are well aware of what Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp are like today, but I’m talking about those guys who don’t get as much press these days.  They do get press, but not on the scale of Brad Pitt.  I thought of Duran Duran first because they’ve got some new tunes out one of which I just caught last night.  It’s a great song and reminds me of why I liked Duran Duran in the first place.  The song is called “Falling Down”.  The video is such a flash-back complete with beautiful models.  John was the focal point of the band in my crowd.  According to wikipedia he has been working on music steadily all this time and is devoted to the reformed Duran Duran.

John Taylor back in the day.  He really hasn’t changed much.
