Everyone Loved Heath

Joel McHale

Friday night I watched “The Soup” as I always do.  As you may already know, “The Soup” is a program that pokes fun at celebrity and semi-celebrity (mostly by way of television shows).  Anyway, at the end of Friday night’s episode, host Joel McHale said that in the years they’ve been doing “The Soup”, they have never even mentioned Heath Ledger’s name (which in itself is an accomplishment as a celeb normally must embarrass themselves in some way to be mentioned).  He went on to say that Heath was a decent and talented man.  He went on to admonish others, “Stop digging for dirt, you weasels.”  He offered his condolences to friends and family.  I would like to thank Mr. McHale for echoing my sentiments.

Daniel Day-Lewis

Sunday night, I watched the SAG awards.  Ryan Gosling and his sister were interviewed on the red carpet and were wearing black ribbons in honor of Mr. Ledger.  Later in the evening, Daniel Day-Lewis had some lovely things to say about Heath in his acceptance speech.  There were a lot of sad faces in the celebrity crowd.

Ryan Gosling and Sister Mandi

It’s nice to know that everyone is missing Heath Ledger as much as I am and I’m glad to see that most are treating this with the solemnity and respect that is called for.

Johnny Steps Up To the Plate

Johnny Depp

Heath Ledger

It’s sad that Heath Ledger won’t finish “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” but it’s nice of Johnny Depp to step up and finish the project.  It’s nice because Terry Gilliam plans on keeping scenes with Heath Ledger in the movie.

From Hollyscoop.com:
Johnny Depp will replace Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the latest project Heath had been working on. Director Terry Gilliman hand picked Johnny for the role.

But this doesn’t mean we won’t see Heath at all. The studio is saying there’s a part of the movie in which Heath’s character falls through a magic mirror, and they may have Johnny become the new appearance of the changed character.

Heath Ledger Passed Away

Heath Ledger

I’m speechless.  More sad news today.  AP is reporting that Heath Ledger has passed away today.  He was found by his housekeeper in his apartment.  Really, really sad.

I’ve Been Enjoying the Maxim Lists

So, I had a nice visit at Maxim Online today and found some really cool lists.  I’ve posted my favorites below.

9 Smartest Dumb Guys

Maxim online has compiled a list of the 9 smartest dumb guys in film.  These guys are excellent at playing morons but are actually highly intelligent.  Check it out.

Jeff Daniels in “Dumb and Dumber”

Most Extreme Body Makeovers

These actors put their bodies through Hell for certain roles and we appreciate their sacrifice.  (Well, most of them anyway).  And I cannot believe they didn’t mention Jared Leto gaining like 60 lbs. for “Chapter 27”.  Such egregious oversights shall not be tolerated. :)

Christian Bale

Hottest Women of Horror Movies

No need to explain this one, but be sure to read the descriptions.  The writers at Maxim online have a great sense of humor.

Sherrie Moon Zombie

Beyond Their Years

This archive lists actors who have played parts much younger than their actual years and in most cases have done it very well.

Ashton Holmes in “A History of Violence”

Most Memorable Teen Nerds

I love a nerd.  This list has some of the best ever committed to film.

The King, Louis Skolnick from “Revenge of the Nerds” played by Robert Carradine

Actors Imitating Actors

This is an interesting category.  I actually hadn’t realized they were imitating other actors.  Perhaps Maxim is being facetious.  Go figure.

Heath Ledger in “Lords of Dogtown” and Val Kilmer in “The Doors”
