Clive Barker’s “Book of Blood” Coming Soon

From shocktillyoudrop.com:

Starring: Jonas Armstrong, Sophie Ward, Doug Bradley, Simon Bamford, Paul Blair

Plot Summary: Paranormal researcher Mary Florescu’s investigations lead her to Simon McNeal, a college student who appears to be channelling messages from the dead. As their erotic relationship develops the line between the worlds of the living and the dead become blurred and finally collapse in a stunning and astonishing climax.

I’m glad to see my beloved Doug Bradley (he played Pinhead in the “Hellraiser” movies) and Simon Bamford (Butterball in the “Hellraiser” movies) will be in this.

Roy Scheider Has Passed

Roy Scheider

I’m sad to say that Roy Scheider has passed.  He was a film icon thanks in large part to “Jaws”.  He will be missed.  Hell, it will be hard for me to watch “Jaws” again.

Juno Will Be Dragged Into Hell

Ellen Page

Rumor has it that Ellen Page of the critically acclaimed “Juno” will star in Sam Raimi’s return to horror “Dragged Into Hell”.  So far all I know is that the movie is about a supernatural curse.  But I love Sam Raimi (and maybe Bruce Campbell will make an appearance) and Ellen Page is smokin’ hot right now.  Should be a good combination.

BAFTAs Had the Hotness

These good looking men were at the BAFTAs last night.  This is precisely why I switched back and forth between this and the Grammys.

Cuba Gooding, Jr.

Hugh Laurie

Viggo Mortensen

Javier Bardem

Daniel Day-Lewis

Orlando Bloom

Writing…

Shakira (love the pink Converse)

While other musicians and celebs attended the Grammys, Shakira took some time to enjoy her farm in Uruguay and write new songs.  I love the fact that Shakira does so much for charity and is so grounded considering her fame all over the Americas .

My Personal Grammy Highlights

Cher looking stunning

Last night I watched the Grammys (and the Baftas - the remote was heating up).  And while 30STM was not up for an award this year…alas…it was still a good show with lots more flash than I expected.  The first high point for me was Daft Punk and Kanye West singing “Stronger”.

Daft Punk

Kanye West

This was a very good performance.  As you can see from the photos, the stage was done up ala “Tron” which was just perfect for the song.  Very cool.  Kanye followed this up with a sad tribute to his Mom.  It was touching and while I loved the upbeat “Stronger” I was moved by the tribute.

The next high point for me was the performance by Beyonce and Tina Turner.

Beyonce and Tina Turner

They performed “Proud Mary” and while Beyonce can truly belt out a song, she kept it in check to allow Tina the thunder.  They were both wonderful together and it was obvious that they respect and enjoy the talents of one another.

My next high point was the duet by Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli.

Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli

Talk about some talented people tonight.  (Herbie Hancock did some fabulous piano work at the Grammys too).  These two men sang some stunning opera together.  I was aware that they could both sing but was not aware that they would perform so well together.  Amazing.

Last but not least….

Amy Winehouse

Amy has had her share of issues this year and it was obvious from her performance that she is missing her husband, Blake.  She was fantastic.  I’m usually ready for some breakdown in an Amy Winehouse performance because she’s so unpredictable, but I like her voice and was pleased to hear her do so well last night.  To top that off, she won a Grammy for “Song of the Year” (I believe that was the category) for “Rehab” and her reaction was priceless.  She was completely blindsided by the win and her speechlessness and demure acceptance was beautiful.

All in all, it was a good night on the Grammys (and I can’t say that every year).  The pictures on this post are from Rollingstone.com and there are many more to look at on their site.
