Jeffrey Loves His Dog

Jeffrey Donovan on the set of “The Changeling”.

You gotta love a guy who shows his pooch the love.  I don’t even know if it’s his pooch but there’s still love.  Look at the way he’s holding said pooch’s back feet.  You can’t fake love like that.  Can’t wait for the next season of “Burn Notice”.

Zac Gets Into Charity

Zac Efron

I knew he had it in him.

From AccessHollywood.com
:  Actress Claire Danes and U.S. Senator Bill Bradley in New York and Actor Zac Efron in Los Angeles, announce the nationwide expansion of DonorsChoose.org, a revolutionary non-profit organization designed to fulfill classroom needs and foster innovation in public schools.

Danes, Efron and Bradley are attracting media attention to DonorsChoose.org, which for the past seven years has proven its model for channeling much-needed resources (like books, art supplies, technology and field trips) to deserving students at public schools in eight states and four major U.S. Cities.
On November 15th, DonorsChoose.org expands its model to all 50 states, matching classroom needs, posted online by teachers, with individuals from all walks of life who believe in supporting American students with the resources they need to succeed.

Since 2000, DonorsChoose.org has channeled $14 million worth of books, art supplies, technology, field trips and other resources to students in need. Just as eBay enables buyers and sellers to collectively determine the value of a product, DonorsChoose.org lets the people decide which projects should get funded, said eBay Founder Pierre Omidyar.

New Jeep Song

Steve Poltz

To top off my tv viewing last night, I saw this jeep ad with a really cool tune.  It’s folksy and soft and very sweet.  It is a Steve Poltz song called “You Remind Me”.  See it performed live on youtube:

2 1/2 Men Last Night

Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, and Charlie Sheen

Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m talking about the sitcom.  Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, and Conchata Ferrell have the funniest half hour on television these days.  In last night’s episode, a weekend at Charlie’s house is the subject of a report Jake reads in class.  If you’ve ever seen the show (and who hasn’t) you know that the weekend was bizarre.  There is a section in the beginning of the episode where Alan’s ex-wife, Judith, is dropping Jake off for the weekend and berates Alan on a variety of topics.  After she leaves Alan and Charlie mock her in their “Judith voices”.  There was something so puerile and funny about that little bit that I had to grip my love-handles to keep the belly laugh from rupturing my spleen.  It shouldn’t have been funny…but it was.  The show was great but the icing on the cake was that it was told from Jake’s point of view via the report.

Two and A Half Men’s writers are truly the best in the business…and I mean ever.  They deserve a bigger cut of digital revenues.

Sweet Niblets

The Cast of “Hannah Montana”

“Hannah Montana” has finally justified my love of hillbillies.  Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jason Earles are either the real deal with a lot of genuine acting talent or they are fantastic actors who make me (a bona fide adult) believe they are, in fact, hillbillies.  I must confess here that I’ve become addicted to a few Disney shows.  I’ve become particularly fond of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” (for reasons even I can’t explain) and “Hannah Montana”.  Add to that a few fun Disney movies and I’ve got that channel tuned in nearly every night.  And people, I don’t and never did have kids.  I first became ensnared by “High School Musical” and “High School Musical 2”.  I didn’t expect to like either of them but like an insidious entryway drug, they drew me into the Disney world.  I found myself inexplicably drawn to the Malibu hillbillies (the Stewarts in “Hannah”) and had to really analyze that.  I came to the conclusion that I already liked hillbillies and the Stewarts just made me see why.  They are not only comfortable with who they are (even in Malibu ) but thrilled to be who they are.  It’s certainly a tried and true Disney message, but still a good one.  And let’s just say that I covet their Malibu home.

Miley Cyrus (This young star has really got her stuff together and has learned how to handle fame with grace and compassion).

Billy Ray Cyrus  (His “Achy Breaky” days are behind him and he is now every tween girls’ favorite Dad.  His stories of Aunt Pearl and Uncle Earl are priceless).

Jason Earles (I was astounded to learn that Jason is actually 32 year old.  He’s a very good actor to fool me on that one.  He’s studied acting, directing, and cold reading.  He also jitterbugs.  He’s from California but has really nailed that “ Nashville ” to fit in with Miley and Billy Ray).

Let me just say that the supporting cast is very good too.  Emily Osmet and Mitchell Musso’s California teens provide a nice contrast to the beloved Malibu Hillbillies.

Mitch Pileggi on “Reaper”

Mitch Pileggi

A.D. Skinner has not been resting on his laurels since the untimely demise of “The X-Files”.  He’s been in “Law & Order”, “Nip Tuck”, “CSI”, and “Boston Legal” just to name a few.  Last night I caught him on “Reaper” and he was fantastic.  By the end of the episode I was channel surfing for “X-Files” reruns because I just didn’t get enough Mitch.
